The premise is 'interact with the practioners here' and 'read the theory elsewhere'. This makes the message crisp and focusses on insight, and yet saves attendee and speaker time. What is in it for me ? I am a student, what is in it for me ? When you interact with industry professionals who have 6 - 15 years of experience building solutions or products, you can get a very good feel for the core technologies to learn, skills to master all the while keeping the big picture in mind. Career networking is an effective way to ascertain "in-demand" technologies. What is the purpose of Resume drop box ?
