As i work through my mailbox, there are quite a few mails asking about which Linux distribution to use ? The in principle answer is: It's your choice !
Here is a suggestion based on information collated from user experience, study of bugs database, Linux desktop market share and from working on Twincling projects.

If you want 'polish' use OpenSuSe 11. If you want 'power' use Gentoo Linux 2008.0 .
If you work on any of the Twincling projects, then you are expected to use OpenSuSe 11 (for application projects) or Gentoo Linux (for Twincling Linux projects)
We track the bugs and issues pro-actively on a weekly basis only for OpenSuSe and Gentoo. This means if you are using these distros, then work arounds or updates or configuration settings should be available.
OpenSuSe is strong in Europe and China. Gentoo is used by many server and appliance vendors.
Starting from October - support documentation and videos will be made available for OpenSuSe and Gentoo distributions.
Having said that, there are many geeks and Open Source enthusiasts on the Twincling list, who should be able to help with other distributions.
I also believe that the most important goal for any user would be to use the Linux distribution to get his/her task done, rather than sit and drool over the installation or deal with bugs.

To top it all, use K Desktop environment (KDE), a network transparent and contemporary desktop environment. Powered by a powerful and feature rich multi-platform Qt library (written in C++), the latest release KDE 4.x has some real cool technologies like - Plasma, Phonon, Solid, Strigi, Decibel and Nepomuk among others. Good performance and great features make KDE application suite useful and efficient to address the needs of the 21st century users.
Open Source rocks !
