The upcoming Saturday meet on Sat, August 8 at 4:15pm is on Android mobile platform programming.

Mr. Satish Vellanki will deliver the talk and conduct the hands-on session on Android.

Android
Android is a mobile operating system running on the Linux kernel. The project is currently managed by Open Handset Alliance.

Some of the interesting features of Android device platform are
 large Handset layouts support,
 SQLite based storage,
 GSM/EDGE, CDMA, UMTS, WiFi connectivity,
 Webkit based browser framework,
 Dalvik virtual machine,
 H.263, H.264, MPEG-4, AMR, AAC media support
 utilize video/still media formats, accelerometers, magnetometers
 
For the developer, there is a fanastic development environment that includes a device emulator, debugging tools, memory and performance profiling and plugin for Eclipse IDE.
 
To monetize your offerings, there is a Android Market, which is a catalog of applications that cen be downloaded and installed to target hardware.

For maximum benefit
 Knowledge of Java, especially Event-handling and Swing will be
 needed  to participate in the exercises.
 Please bring your laptops if you would like to do it along with us.
 We'll be providing the requisite software CDs.

 Please note that there will be security check at the main entrance

meeting up the community and learning are cordially invited to
attend this hands-on workshop.

Open Source software CD/DVDs are made available free-of-charge
at the meetup venue.
