XML Workshop - Sat, 12 April at 5pm

Mr. Uma Maheshwararao Lankoti, will be conducting an XML Workshop for the TWINCLING community and Open Source geeks on Saturday, 12th April at 5pm.

He will discussing about XML, XSLT, DTD/XML Schema and XPath. Memory representation of XML like DOM, SAX and Streaming XML will be emphasised. Open Source parsers like expat, xerces and utilities like xsltproc, xmlto, xmlint will be discussed.

There will be demos to help understand the technical scenarios. Applications will be developed during the workshop to get a better grasp of the technology and tools.

XML vocabularies are very important for today's business applications and there will be discussion about the standardization efforts and role of organizations like OASIS and W3C.

Abstract

XML or eXtensible Markup Language, provides a foundation for document systems and protocols.

The primary purpose of XML is to facilitate the sharing of structured data across different information systems over internet. It is used both to encode documents and to serialize data.

From a language perspective, XML operates on two levels

  • syntax for document markup (reprentation)
  • syntax for declaring structures of documents (grammar)

InstallFest (Linux, BSD) on Sat, March 29 at 5pm

An exciting 'Linux/BSD InstallFest' has been planned for Saturday, March 29 at 5pm. The venue is Floor 5, Conf Room, CommVault Systems.

A great way to get started with Linux orBSD is to actually try to install and configure it !

You are welcome to bring along your laptops to try out the stuff. There will be some laptops and 2-3 systems available to try the distros live and also in VM environments.

Some of the distros you get to play with are:

  • FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD
  • Sabayon Linux
  • Gentoo
  • Ubuntu
  • Mandriva
  • Fedora
  • BOSS Linux
  • Knoppix

Thanks to Saurabh Bhatia and Community Leads Uma and Sumanth, there will be multiple demos on installations, configuration and troubleshooting.

Thanks to Nikhil Bharadway, there will also be discussion on 'ODF' or Open Document Format.

All the geeks, entrepreneurs and techies are invited to join in and be part of the fun filled yet insightful evening that it is going to be on Saturday, March 29 at 5pm.
